Here at Cholla high school, art is one of the few subjects where students can explore their self-expression through creation. Many students learn to grow their skills in drawing, painting, sculpting, and even graphic design. All the teachers help guide students in the right direction and even open doors for them to submit their art to the U of A or into art contests. Art students have the opportunity to exhibit their art in the yearly art exhibitions. Mr. Wolf, who has been an art teacher at Cholla for about 8 years, thinks that Cholla, “Does more outreach into the community, having events that display the arts for the families to come and visit.” He also recommends to his students that participating in as many art contests while in their adolescence will greatly benefit their art careers in the future.

The art classrooms are very distinctive compared to other classes. This is due to the murals that are painted around them. It is a nice sight to see, and it makes the art rooms stand out from the rest of the school. Sometimes, students will come together to repaint the walls, giving it a fresh new look.

The art teachers here at Cholla are amazing not only at their own art ability, but also in their ability to teach and inspire. Mr. Wiggins, an art teacher, is one example I would like to use; Mr. Wiggins is not only an art teacher but also the IB art teacher. Mr. Wiggins has an amazing and easy to follow way of teaching, his class motto is a quote from the karate kid “I promise to teach you, you promise to learn”. Being an IB teacher as well, Mr. Wiggins has a lot of responsibility and yet he still manages to keep his students engaged and inspired to do their work. In these examples of Mr. Wiggins and Mr. Wolf, you can get the idea about the other art teachers and how amazing they are.
