Many seniors are embracing their childhood by wearing backpacks that you’d typically see on kids. Being a senior is an uneasy reminder that soon we must leave our school years behind and start thinking like an adult. But wearing a childlike backpack is a great way to savor the last year in high school. These shows take us back to our childhood, when life was simple and we didn’t worry much about college or working. Wearing these nostalgic bags help keep a little bit of our childhood alive before we have to grow up.

Graduation is a big milestone. In an interview with miss Ada Sanchez, she expresses how she feels about graduating from high school, “I’m going to miss it, because all we ever done in life was go to school… so it’s kind of scary thinking, oh now we have to be grown-ups.” When Ada was younger, she remembers watching Spider-Man in the theatres with her dad and brothers. Fast forward to senior year and now she wears a Spider-Man backpack. It is so special how the shows and movies we watch as kids could hold so many awesome memories.

Wearing kid backpacks for senior year is a trend that got popular with the help of social media around 2020. It’s fun way to express good shows and movies, from Spider-Man to Paw Patrol. Senior Roman Camacho wears a Minnie-Mouse backpack simply because he likes the character. Seeing these backpacks around school is so expressive and fun.

However, all students are encouraged to express themselves with their bags; fun backpacks aren’t just for seniors. Many underclassmen enjoy matching their backpacks with friends or significant others. It is refreshing to see, and it gives our school so much personality.

These bags are a step up from the plain old bags that a soon-to-be graduate would be expected to wear. They give us that nostalgic feeling. We are constantly being reminded that we have to grow up but even though we are turning into adults it doesn’t necessarily mean we have to say goodbye to our childhood yet.
